Trust & AI: Must Reads

In this collaboration between MIT Sloan Management Review and Boston Consulting Group, the authors highlight both the state of enterprise AI today as well as insights into building a Responsible AI (RAI) initiative.

The article points out the significant gap between the number of businesses today leveraging AI (over 90%) and companies that have established practices around corporate governance and responsibility when it comes to AI.

"RAI Leaders see RAI as integrally connected to a broader set of corporate objectives, and to being a responsible corporate citizen. If you want to be an RAI Leader, focus on being a responsible company."

Researchers at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) have developed a machine learning model that can be used as a tool to inform firefighters of backdraft dangers.

The team plans to create a portable device as a next step in order to test the model in a more realistic building fire scenario.

Impact & Society

This Financial Times article by Tom Faber dives into AI-generated art, something that has become a bit of a hot topic since the rising popularity of tools like Dall-E 2 and other AI image generators.

Faber covers how this technology works, its potential impact on society (and art), and the human role in all this.
